Alfredo Naranjo was born in Caracas in January 1967, began his musical training at an early age and formalized in his early teens, when it enters the Conservatory of Music at the National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela. There he studied theory, harmony, counterpoint and percussion teachers Saume Edgar and Juan José Pérez Barragán. Soon, it becomes part of the line of percussion Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, where he remained for five years, playing orchestral repertoire.

In parallel, performs its work with popular music and started playing the vibraphone. A new world opened before his eyes ...

residence in 1992 in the United States, with a scholarship to study at the University of Long Island. Simultaneously, performs technical courses of vibraphone with Professor Steve Nelson School of Music Jazz Mobile in Harlem. Also comes into contact with important musicians such as Pete Yellin Yorkers, Daniel Ponce and Rolando Briceño, among others. Upon returning to Venezuela began composing with dedication and wonder at the way these pieces, reminiscent as his, on and contact ... is when he recorded his first album Harvesting (Lyric, 1993), which includes five themes of authorship .

Three years later, under the same label, he recorded his second album entitled Through Time, fully disk showed his qualities as a composer in nine of the ten songs contained in this full length album, with which it had very international and achieves good comments placed for the first time in the Hit Parade of Latin Beat magazine.

In 1999 he recorded his third album titled "Vibration de mi Tierra (Latin World), in which they operate major figures in world music as Arturo Sandoval, Ed Calle and Gurrufío Ensemble, among others. This album includes eight songs, plus get very good reception, appearing in the Hit Parade of Puerto Rico, as well as international journals.

That year also participated as a guest artist at the proposed landfall as instrumentalist and arranger. Allei shared with international musicians such as Alex Acuña, Don Grusin, Abraham Laboriel, Frank Quintero, among others. Additionally, he was invited to the International Festival Percussion, next to the master Dave Samuels, a respected performer of the vibraphone and marimba, who joined the deep bonds of friendship and mutual recognition. Also attending as a guest of the band Guaco, the Midem Festival in Cannes, France, which returns a year later for a successful tour of twenty shows in the city of Paris with Venezuelan percussionist Orlando Poleo.

In 2000 received the Award for "House of the Artist" as Best Instrumentalist. At that time he teaches the Graduate Institute of Music (IUDEM) in the chair of the vibraphone.
But his expected foray into the world of salsa and Latin jazz is embodied in a proposal young, but many features of maturity in their fourth album: Tribute to Joe Cuba (Latin World, 2001), which conducts a tour of great importance in the city of Puerto Rico. This project makes the soundtrack of the movie "The Years of Fearchaux", the Frenchman Bernard Store.

After this, is dedicated to meet his band, Guajeo, all over the country and the world, taking part in many concerts in Venezuela and abroad.

In May 2004 a milestone to be submitted with the legendary New York pianist Larry Harlow in a concert anthology: "Two great salsa and Latin jazz, considered by critics among the best events of the year. This presentation filled the Concha Acústica de Bello Monte, space was closed by that date for such events. In December of that year, along with four other outstanding musicians: Luz Mabel Medina, David Pena, Luis Julio Toro and Carlos "Nene" Quintero: Presents the project and assembled Solos. " At that time conceived the disk directory and Guajeo Alfredo Naranjo (Cacao Music, 2006), which contains ten compositions and fourteen arrangements initialed by him. With this proposal, was invited by the Municipal Symphony Orchestra caracas to form part of the "Symphonic", which were also Oscar D'Leon and Saul Vera. It takes part in burning a DVD with another prominent artist, Cuban drummer Horacio "the Black" Hernandez and his trio, the Netherlands Bimhaus. Gurrufío Ensemble also recorded with the "Children's Songbook Venezolano", in which his play three interesting arrangements on issues of children's oral tradition. As a guest of this iconic group, participates in Gurrufío Assembly. Sessions with Alfredo Naranjo, considered by critics as one of the five best albums released in Venezuela in 2009.


His latest CD, On the road (Cacao Music, 2010), is a work that shows him in one of its most important and complete artist, a record that reflects balance and taste for the achievements, work that sums up "The Great Soundtrack of my life," as it says and where music vibrates, energy, good spirit.
